INKJET PRINTS
While we are primarily a
Digital Photographic Production facility, we do produce InkJet
Prints for applications that are not appropriate or conducive
to photographic materials.The specialty inkjet materials we
do produce enable us to produce graphics that are,for example:
1) Useable outdoors for extended periods
2) Two sided on a single print material
3) Printed on a cloth base for hanging banner applications,e.g.
silk,canvas
4) Printed on a metallic, reflective background, e.g. Mylar
5) Printed on a see-through screen material,eg Drop-paper
or Silk
We use an ENCAD™ 700
60" wide Inkjet printer, which writes at 600 DPI.
Inkjet prints are made from
digital files. They are available up to 60" in width
up to 75 feet in length, with some limitations on length (see
information below). Ink jets basically come in two "flavors",
indoor and outdoor usage. Inkjets are a lower quality device
than our Lambda outputs.
Indoor inkjets: Suitable
for use in any indoor environment. The inks are water soluble,
so add lamination for protection. Indoor inkjet media come
in a dizzying array of types. From silk to metallic to magnetic,
there are many available, some of which do not deliver quality
images, but may be acceptable for certain applications. Indoor
inks are dye based inks, we use Encad™ GX inks which
deliver excellent color gamut while providing extended light
stability (one year in direct sunlight).
Outdoor inkjets: Produced
with pigmented inks (light stable and water resistant). We
use Encad™ GO inks, which have a reduced color gamut
compared to the GX inks, but are designed to meet the rigors
of the outdoor environment.
File
Prep and RIP
File Prep and RIP applies to a "standard" order.
This includes files set up for digital printing, with limited
embedded raster images, and colors specified as Pantone. Costs
will be added for additional work provided on a time and materials
basis.
